As CEO, creative director and executive producer, Simon has led some of the most recognizable spots for nearly 20 years on television and the web, including most recently the 2011 AICE Award Winner for Music and Sound for adidas “MiCoach”, 2011 National Addy Award winner for Sound Design for NHTSA “Bam” IBM’s Smarter Planet campaign, Time Warner Cable campaigns among countless other spots and campaigns. Joel Simon and his team of creative visionaries are responsible for transforming JSM Music into one of the busiest and well-respected music and sound design entities in the industry.
For his prolific work, Simon has been rewarded with dozens of gold, silver, and bronze Clios; over a dozen AICPs; an Emmy; Addy Awards; One Show awards; Crain’s Business 40 Under 40 honoree; and a Gold Award Ad Age Hispanic Creative Advertising Award. He has been a frequent judge for the Clio Awards and has been a past curatorial judge for the AICPs. Simon’s expertise is frequently called upon for public presentations, and he is a yearly speaker at the Billboard Seminars and NYU, and has been a speaker at several other universities, as well as MIDEM in Cannes, the largest global music convention.
A 1989 magna cum laude graduate of Cornell with a bachelor’s in business management and marketing, the Brooklyn native also serves on the Communication Advisory Council of Cornell University.
Determined to channel his success to help others, Simon is a benefactor for several charities. He is also an avid golfer, a lifelong boxing fan and remains carb free.
